Documentation
Nocturne Writer documentation is maintained as a living, open repository and is freely available to anyone. It is written in plain Markdown and organised as a Nocturne Writer book, but it is not locked to the application in any way.
Where the Documentation Lives
All official documentation is hosted on GitHub. Repositories can be browsed online, cloned locally, or forked for your own use.
How It's Structured
The documentation is authored as a Nocturne Writer book. This means it is:
Organised for long-form reading
Structured for progressive understanding
Version-controlled alongside the project
At the same time, every file is standard Markdown. You don’t need to use Nocturne Writer to read or access the documentation.
How You Can Use It
You are free to:
Read the documentation directly on GitHub
Clone the repository and view it locally
Open it in any Markdown editor
Open the book with Nocturne Writer
Adapt it for your own workflows
There is no lock-in and no requirement to use a specific tool.
Why This Approach
The documentation follows the same principles as the application itself:
Local-first
Open formats
User ownership
Long-term accessibility
Your tools should never be a prerequisite for understanding your work.
